What Does a Simulation Engineer Do at Tüpraş?
As part of the Process Optimization and Digitalization Department, the Simulation Engineer actively contributes to simulation, modeling, and digitalization processes, managing and guiding these efforts.

Job Description
- Develop, update, and report offline/online/hybrid simulation models of refinery process units and auxiliary facilities to assess the impact of planned changes, support investment decisions, and guide optimization efforts.
- Identify and update data required for the PIMS program (Base/Delta vectors, Cut/Swing Cut temperatures), and contribute to continuous model updates to optimize planning.
- Enable process engineers to actively use simulation models for ongoing optimization and project management within their units.
- Conduct benchmarking studies and prepare reports to evaluate different simulation programs based on company and industry needs, and define actions based on outcomes.
- Participate in or support simulation and engineering projects that contribute to company strategies.
- Take part in innovative projects with simulation vendors and manage their implementation within the company.
- Engage with startups and new clients working on digitalization, and manage or guide program trials.
- Research and explore technological and industry innovations related to the field, and attend relevant seminars.
- Initiate and participate in digitalization projects and support their implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Proficient in simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Unisim, or Pro II.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn and use R, Python, Power BI.
- Familiarity with engineering calculations and design standards.
- Ability to work in coordination with domestic/international firms and internal departments.
- Capable of conducting root-cause analysis for bottlenecks in refinery processes and managing on-site implementation of solutions.
- Able to manage uncertainty and rapidly changing situations.
- Strong team player with effective communication skills.
- Comfortable with high-paced and agile work environments.
- Analytical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Innovative and skilled in problem-solving.
